According to Search Engine Journal, there are 4.8 billion social media users worldwide, representing 59.9% of the global population and 92.7% of all internet users. Additionally, there were 150 million new social media users between April 2022 and April 2023 — a 3.2% increase year-over-year.
By those numbers, almost everyone has a social media account. We can almost guarantee that all employees have a social media account. Many are open to the public. But, setting your accounts to “private” doesn’t satisfy the possible liability to getting hired.
